Shivrajyabhishek Sohala Celebrations at Raigad Fort
The historic Shivrajyabhishek Sohala was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm at Raigad Fort on June 20, 2025. The ceremony marks the coronation anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who was crowned as the king of the Maratha Empire in 1674. This event symbolizes the establishment of Hindavi Swarajya (self-rule) and holds immense historical and cultural importance in Maharashtra. Thousands of devotees, historians, and followers gathered at the fort to pay tribute to the great Maratha warrior king. The celebrations began early in the morning with traditional rituals, including Jalabhishek (water offering) and Dugdhabhishek (milk offering) performed at the statue and coronation site. The fort premises were decorated beautifully, and devotional chants, drum beats, and traditional powada performances filled the atmosphere with pride and emotion. During the ceremony, former Member of Parliament Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati addressed the gathering and demanded that Shivrajyabhishek Day be declared a National Festival. He emphasized that the coronation of Shivaji Maharaj was not just a regional event but a historic moment of national significance that represents bravery, governance, and self-rule. He urged the Government of India to recognize this day officially across the country. The grand event also included cultural programs, traditional processions, and patriotic speeches highlighting the legacy of Shivaji Maharaj. Security arrangements were made to manage the large crowd, and authorities ensured smooth organization throughout the celebration. The Shivrajyabhishek Sohala once again reflected the deep respect and pride that people of Maharashtra and across India hold for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his remarkable contribution to Indian history.
